Housing and Energy
Some Port Arthur residents experience high energy bills, unsafe housing conditions, or other issues that diminish their quality of life in a city that already faces high unemployment, high poverty, and air and climate disasters. To understand the scale of these concerns and potential solutions, Houston Advanced Research Center, Community In-Power and Development Association, Inc., and Catherine Flowers Consultancy are evaluating housing and energy needs in Port Arthur through a community questionnaire and interviews with residents and community leaders. Responses will be used to inform community education materials and develop plans for community resilience and energy and housing solutions with and for residents of Port Arthur.
